This year’s International Women’s Day theme could not have been better timed! 2025’s focus is all about Accelerating Action for gender equality.
Offering our patients a range of services and specialists to suit their unique health needs is always a key priority at Ormiston Hospital & Healthcare. After the launch of our brand-new dedicated Endoscopy suite in August last year, we quickly recognised that we were missing a trick with our service offering – we didn’t have any female Endoscopists working with us.
We support over hundreds of female Endoscopy patients every year (and growing!) and know that not only being treated to closer to home matters, so does being treated by someone you feel comfortable and safe with.
It’s with this key driver that we are excited to announce that we have not one but two female Endoscopists now working out of Ormiston Hospital & Healthcare. Welcome to the team Lily Wu and Maggie Chapman-Ow!
Here’s a bit about our new specialists:
Dr Lily Wu is a gastroenterologist and endoscopist who is currently supporting contract cases from Counties Manukau.
Maggie Chapman-Ow is an experienced gastroenterologist and endoscopist. She can offer private endoscopy consultations at Ormiston and is currently exploring a full investigation service for women needing gynaecological and gastroenterology investigations. Many women have complex abdominal pain that can be difficult to differentiate if the cause is gynaecological or gastrointestinal in nature. This way women can have multiple potential causes investigated together, creating a more streamlined service to get answers to their symptoms in a timely manner.
